Thirst is a vase that is 6.5 inches wide by 9.75 inches tall.
I threw and trimmed this piece on a pottery wheel. I then applied three thin coats of colored underglaze (think of this as ceramic paint) to the outside of the pot. Finally, my favorite part of the process, I carved designs into the surface of the piece. These designs are all improvised, one of a kind compositions. The fact that each design is unique is what makes the whole process fun for me.
The layer of underglaze on the outside of the piece adhered to the surface of the pot during the firing and will not come off.
Each piece has a glossy glaze applied its interior.
